Free Online Screen Recorder – With Audio, No Watermark
A free screen recorder that runs in your browser: record your whole screen, one window or a single tab, with your microphone, the tab’s sound or both, and save an MP4. There is nothing to install, no account, no watermark and, in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, no time limit. The recording is written straight to your device and never streamed anywhere.

How to record your screen
Step 1: Under What to record, pick Screen, Window or Tab, then choose the Audio: None, Microphone, Tab / system, or Both.
Step 2: Click Start recording and confirm the exact screen, window or tab in your browser’s dialog. A 3-second countdown gives you time to switch.
Step 3: Pause or mute the mic while you record. Click Stop and save, or your browser’s “Stop sharing” button, when you are done.
Step 4: Drag the handles to trim the start and end, pick MP4 or WebM and save. Download the file or open it in another tool.

What you can record in each browser
Every desktop browser can record a screen or a window with your microphone. Recording the sound your computer plays is where they differ: only Chrome and Edge can capture it, and only on some systems. Phone browsers cannot capture the screen at all.
| Browser | Screen or window + mic | Tab audio | Whole-system audio | Where the recording is kept |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chrome or Edge on Windows and ChromeOS | Yes | Yes | Yes | Written to disk as you record |
| Chrome or Edge on Mac and Linux | Yes | Yes | No | Written to disk as you record |
| Firefox | Yes | No | No | Written to disk as you record |
| Safari on Mac | Yes | No | No | In memory: keep recordings short |
| Browsers on phones and tablets | No | No | No | Use the phone’s built-in recorder |
Screen recorder with audio: microphone, tab and system sound
Pick the sound before you start. Microphone records your voice with the browser’s echo cancellation and noise suppression switched on, which suits narrated tutorials. Tab / system records what the computer plays, such as a video, a call or a game, without your voice. Both mixes the two into one audio track, so a walkthrough of a video keeps the video’s sound and your commentary.
While recording you can mute the microphone without stopping, which is handy when someone knocks on the door.
Why is my screen recorder not recording audio?
- The box was not ticked. Chrome and Edge only share sound when you tick “Share tab audio” or “Share system audio” in their picker. If you forget, the recorder warns you and carries on without it.
- You shared a window. Browsers attach sound to a tab or the whole screen, not to an app window. Share the tab or the screen instead.
- Firefox or Safari. Neither can share tab or system sound. Record with your microphone, or switch to Chrome or Edge for the computer’s audio.
- The wrong microphone. Use Test microphone before starting: the level bar should move when you talk. Pick another device from the list if it does not, or run a full mic test.
- Mac system audio. Browsers on macOS generally cannot capture the whole system’s sound. Share the tab that plays it instead.
Record a meeting, a lecture or a video playing in a tab
For Google Meet, Teams on the web or a lecture in the browser, choose Tab and Both, then tick “Share tab audio”: you get the other people’s voices from the tab and yours from the microphone, mixed into one track. For a desktop app such as Zoom, share the whole screen on Windows or ChromeOS and tick “Share system audio”.
Recording laws differ between countries, and many require everyone’s consent. Tell people before you record a call.

How to record your screen on Windows 11, Mac or Chromebook
The steps above are the same everywhere. Each system also has a built-in option; here is how they compare.
Windows 10 and 11
The Snipping Tool in Windows 11 records the screen, and Xbox Game Bar (Win+G) records one app. To capture a browser tab’s sound, or everything with your voice mixed in, use Chrome or Edge here and choose Both.
Mac
Shift-Command-5 opens macOS’s own screen recorder, which records the screen and your microphone. It cannot record the Mac’s system sound, and browsers generally cannot either, but a Chrome tab’s sound works here.
Chromebook
Screen capture in Quick Settings records the screen with the microphone. Use this page when you want a browser tab’s sound mixed with your voice, a trim before saving, or a choice of MP4 or WebM.
Linux
Chrome, Edge and Firefox work here without installing OBS. On Wayland desktops, the system’s own dialog asks which screen or window to share.
Tips & troubleshooting
Recording a single window? Share the browser tab or window rather than the whole screen: the file is smaller and notifications stay out of it.
For a long tutorial, record in parts with Pause, then cut mistakes out later with the video trimmer.
Sending the video by email or chat? Shrink it with the video compressor to an exact size limit.
Want a silent looping clip for a bug report instead of a video? The screen to GIF recorder saves GIF or animated WebP directly.
Recording a talking-head video without the screen? Use the webcam recorder.
Screen Recorder FAQ
Is this screen recorder really free, with no watermark?
Yes. There is no paid tier on this page, no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you record. The video is made by your own browser and saved to your device, so there is no server cost to recover.
Is there a time limit on screen recordings?
Not in Chrome, Edge or Firefox: the video is encoded and written to your device’s storage while you record, so length is limited only by free disk space. Safari keeps the recording in memory, so split long sessions there.
How do I record my screen with audio?
Set Audio to Microphone for your voice, Tab / system for the computer’s sound, or Both. For computer sound, use Chrome or Edge and tick “Share tab audio” or “Share system audio” in the sharing dialog.
Can I record my screen and webcam at the same time?
Yes. Switch on Webcam bubble under Advanced settings and pick the camera. Your face is drawn into the recording in a round frame in the bottom-right corner.
Why does my screen recording look blurry?
Usually the resolution cap. The default records at most 1080p, so a 4K or Retina screen is scaled down; choose Screen size under Max resolution for full sharpness. Sharing one window instead of the whole screen also keeps small text readable.
Can I record my screen on a phone in the browser?
No. Mobile browsers do not allow screen capture. Use the built-in recorder (Control Centre on iPhone, Quick Settings on Android), then trim or compress the clip on this site.
Is the recording streamed or uploaded?
No. Your screen is captured by your browser and written to a file on your device. The file is temporary until you download it: starting a new recording, or opening a recorder later, deletes it.
