Free Online Recorders: Screen, Webcam and Voice

Record your screen, webcam or microphone straight to a file. Nothing is streamed anywhere. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Record your screen with sound

The screen recorder captures a whole screen, one window or a browser tab, with your microphone, the tab’s sound or both. It saves MP4 or WebM at your screen’s resolution or scaled to 1080p or 720p, at 30 or 60 fps, can add a webcam bubble in a corner, and puts no watermark on the video. Screen to GIF records straight to a GIF for quick demos, and the video compressor shrinks a long tutorial before you send it.

Record video from your webcam

The webcam recorder records you through your camera at 480p, 720p or 1080p, with a mirrored preview, a microphone of your choice and a three-second countdown. It saves an MP4 or WebM to your device, which suits video messages, job applications and class assignments.

Record your voice as MP3, WAV or M4A

The voice recorder shows a live level meter while you speak, lets you pause and resume, and trims the start and end before you save. Browser noise suppression is on by default for cleaner speech; switch it off when you record music. Need the words on paper? Run the file through audio to text.

Test your microphone and camera first

A mic test shows a live level meter, lets you play back a short sample and switch devices, and measures the noise floor of your room. A webcam test reports the real resolution and frame rate your camera delivers, so you know what a call or recording will look like.

Is there a time limit?

No. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox the recording is encoded and written to your device’s storage as you go, so its length is limited by free disk space. Browsers that cannot do that keep the recording in memory; there, split long sessions into shorter takes.

Recorders FAQ

How do I record my screen online?

Open the screen recorder, choose the audio you want and press Start. Your browser asks what to share (a screen or window, or a tab in Chrome and Edge); pick one and record. Press Stop or your browser’s “Stop sharing” button, preview the result, then download it.

How do I record audio online for free?

Open the voice recorder, allow microphone access when the browser asks, and press Record. Pause whenever you need to, stop when you are done, trim the ends and save as MP3, WAV or M4A. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many takes you make.

Is it safe to record in the browser?

Yes. The browser asks before any camera, microphone or screen is used, and shows an indicator while it is on. The recording is saved to your device and never streamed or uploaded, so meetings and private calls stay with you.

How do I record online classes or meetings on a laptop?

In Chrome or Edge, share the meeting’s browser tab and tick “Share tab audio”, or on Windows share the whole screen with system audio, and add your microphone. Check the school’s or company’s rules and tell people when you record them.
