How to convert WAV to OGG
Step 1: Drop your WAV files on the box above; a whole folder of sounds is fine.
Step 2: Keep OGG codec on Vorbis and choose a Bitrate: 128 kbps for effects and dialogue, 192 kbps for music.

Settings explained
- Bitrate
- 128 kbps is fine for speech, 192 kbps for music, 320 kbps is the MP3 maximum.
- OGG codec
- Godot, Unity and older players need Vorbis. Vorbis uses the FFmpeg engine (≈31 MB, downloaded once).
- Opus: Smaller
- Vorbis: Games, older players
Formats
Batch-friendly: add many files and they are processed one after another — if one fails, the rest still finish.
How it runs
- FFmpeg (when needed)
- Older formats and a few filters use FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. It downloads once (about 31 MB) the first time it is needed and is cached for offline use.
- Hardware video engine
- Video is decoded and encoded by your device’s media hardware through WebCodecs — usually several times faster than real time.
OGG vs MP3 for games
OGG Vorbis is the usual choice for game audio: it is royalty-free, Godot and Unity import it directly, and it sounds at least as good as MP3 at the same bitrate. MP3 also works in Godot and Unity, but OGG is the one Minecraft requires and the one Godot’s documentation recommends for music and long sounds.
| Sound | Suggested format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Music and ambience | OGG Vorbis, 128–192 kbps | Long files shrink the most |
| Dialogue and voice-over | OGG Vorbis, 96–128 kbps, mono | Clear speech at small sizes |
| Short, frequent effects (footsteps, gunshots) | Often kept as WAV | Godot recommends WAV here because it needs no decoding |
| Minecraft resource pack sounds | OGG Vorbis | The only format Minecraft accepts |
What audio format does Godot use?
Godot imports WAV, Ogg Vorbis and MP3. Ogg Vorbis is the format it suggests for music, voice and long effects because it is small; WAV is suggested for short sounds that play many times a second. Convert your music and dialogue here, keep the tiny effects as WAV, and you follow that advice.
How to convert WAV to OGG in bulk
Drop every WAV at once. Each is encoded in turn with the same codec and bitrate, keeps its file name with the .ogg extension, and goes into a single ZIP with Download all. Mono files stay mono, so voice lines stay small; stereo music stays stereo.
Vorbis or Opus?
Keep Vorbis for game engines and mod tools. Choose Opus only for web or app audio: it is even more efficient, especially for speech, and always plays back at 48 kHz, but many engines cannot import Opus-in-OGG.
Tips & troubleshooting
Converting from MP3s rather than WAV masters? Use MP3 to OGG; WAV masters give the cleaner result.
Even out loudness across all your sounds first with normalize audio.
Need a WAV back from an OGG for editing? Use OGG to WAV.
WAV to OGG Converter FAQ
Does converting WAV to OGG lose quality?
Yes, slightly, because Vorbis is lossy. At 128 kbps and above the difference is very hard to hear in a game, and the file is typically around a tenth of the WAV’s size.
Is OGG better than MP3 for games?
Usually. OGG Vorbis is royalty-free, imported directly by Godot and Unity, and required by Minecraft. MP3 works in many engines too, but OGG is the safer default.
Can I convert WAV to OGG in bulk?
Yes. Drop all the files together and download them as one ZIP; each keeps its original name with .ogg on the end.
Are my sound files uploaded?
No. The encoding runs in your browser on your own device, so unreleased game assets never leave it.
