HEIC to PDF Converter
Convert HEIC to PDF straight from your iPhone photos, with no JPG step in between: add the pictures, put them in order and get one PDF with A4 or Letter pages, every photo turned the right way up. It works on Windows and Android, where HEIC usually will not even open, and photographed IDs, receipts and letters are never uploaded.

Combines 1 or more files into one result.
How it runs
- WebAssembly codecs
- Images are encoded with Squoosh-grade codecs (MozJPEG, WebP, AVIF, OxiPNG, JPEG XL). Each codec loads only when you use it.
- GPU canvas
- Pixels are drawn and composited with the GPU-accelerated canvas.
Do you need to convert HEIC to JPG first?
No. Converting to JPG first adds a step and a second round of compression for nothing. This HEIC to PDF converter decodes each photo itself and compresses it once, straight into the PDF page.
| HEIC → PDF here | HEIC → JPG → PDF | |
|---|---|---|
| Steps | One | Two, with files in between |
| Compression rounds | One | Two |
| Needs HEIC support on Windows | No, the decoder is built in | Yes, for most converters and Print to PDF |
| Location and camera data in the PDF | Not carried over | Depends on the JPG converter |
What is a HEIC file?
A HEIC file is how an iPhone stores a photo unless you change its camera format: a HEIF image compressed with HEVC. The same picture takes far less space than a JPG, which is great on the phone and awkward everywhere else, because many PCs, websites and PDF tools cannot read it.
That is the gap this page fills. Recent versions of Safari decode HEIC themselves; Chrome, Edge and Firefox get a small WebAssembly decoder that loads the first time you add a HEIC file and is then cached.
Why a PDF cannot simply contain the HEIC
The PDF format has no place for HEIC data: it stores pictures as JPEG, JPEG 2000 or losslessly compressed pixels. Every HEIC to PDF converter therefore has to decode the photo and compress it again in a format PDF understands. The only real choices are where that happens and how often. Here it happens once, on your device; a JPG-first route does it twice, and an upload site does it on someone else’s server.
What happens to a 12-megapixel iPhone photo
Phone photos have more pixels than a printed page needs, so each one is resized to about 250 pixels per inch at its printed size and saved as a high-quality JPEG page. This is the long side a 4032×3024 photo keeps:
| Page setting | Photo stored at |
|---|---|
| A4, no margins | 2,756 px |
| A4, small margins (default) | 2,590 px |
| A4, large margins | 2,423 px |
| Letter, small margins | 2,625 px |
| Fit image | 4,032 px (unchanged) |
Best settings for each kind of HEIC to PDF job
| What you are making | Page size and margins | Image quality |
|---|---|---|
| Copy of an ID card, a receipt or a ticket | A4 or Letter, small margins | 85% (default) |
| A multi-page letter or contract photographed page by page | A4 or Letter, small margins | 85% |
| Upload to a portal with a size limit | A4, small margins | 60–70%, check the estimate |
| Photo album to read on screen | Fit image | 85–95% |
| Print shop or archive | A4 or Letter, no margins | 95% |
Convert HEIC to PDF on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android
Windows 10 and 11
Without Microsoft’s HEIF and HEVC extensions, Windows cannot open HEIC, so Print to PDF fails too. Drag the photos from File Explorer into Chrome or Edge here instead; no extension is needed.
Mac
Preview opens HEIC and can export one photo as PDF; Finder’s Quick Actions → Create PDF combines several. This page adds A4 or Letter pages, margins and a size estimate.
iPhone and iPad
Select photos in the Files app and tap Create PDF, or open this page in Safari and pick them from your library to control page size and order.
Android
Photos copied from an iPhone often arrive as HEIC. Open this page in Chrome, tap the box, pick them and the PDF goes to Downloads.
Turn iPhone photos of documents into one PDF
Shoot each page flat, from straight above, in good light, then add the photos here in page order with A4 and small margins. That gives a tidy document for a landlord, an employer or a claims form. If you have not taken the photos yet, the Notes app’s document scanner on iPhone can also produce a PDF directly.
IDs, bank letters and receipts are exactly the files you should not hand to an upload service. Here they are decoded and placed into the PDF by your own browser.
Tips & troubleshooting
PDF too large for an upload form? Lower Image quality to 60–70%, or check the estimate before creating it.
Mixing iPhone screenshots (PNG) with photos? Both work here; for screenshots only, PNG to PDF keeps them lossless.
Want the photos as normal JPG files as well? Convert them in a batch with HEIC to JPG.
Sharing the original photos too? Strip their location first with remove EXIF.
New photos can be JPG from the start: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.
Sending the PDF on WhatsApp? Attach it as a Document so it arrives exactly as created, not recompressed like a photo.
HEIC to PDF Converter FAQ
How do I convert HEIC to PDF on Windows?
Open this page in Chrome or Edge, drag the HEIC files in from File Explorer, order them and press Create PDF. The HEIC decoder runs in the browser, so you do not need Microsoft’s HEIF or HEVC extensions.
How do I convert iPhone photos to PDF?
On the iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap the box, choose the photos from your library and create the PDF; it is saved to Files. On a computer, copy the HEIC files over and drop them here.
Can I merge HEIC files into one PDF?
Yes. Add as many HEIC photos as you need; each becomes one page of the same PDF, in the order you set by dragging the thumbnails.
Why does the first HEIC take a moment?
Outside Safari, the browser cannot decode HEIC by itself, so ProMedia loads its HEIC decoder the first time. It is cached afterwards, and later conversions start straight away, even offline.
Does converting HEIC to PDF reduce quality?
Not visibly. Each photo is compressed once, as a JPEG page at 85% quality, after being resized to about 250 pixels per inch for its printed size. That is sharper than most printers can show. Choose Fit image to keep the full resolution, up to 6,000 px on the long side.
What happens to a Live Photo in the PDF?
A Live Photo is a HEIC still plus a short video. The PDF gets the still image, as a normal photo page; the moving part cannot be shown in a PDF and is left out.
Are your photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your photos are processed by your own browser on your own device. There is no server that receives files, so nothing is uploaded, stored or shared. You can even switch to airplane mode once the page has loaded.
