Remove Object From Photo With AI
AIRemove an object from a photo by painting over it. An AI inpainting model fills the area with background that matches its surroundings, so tourists, cables, litter, date stamps and stray text disappear. It runs in your browser: the rest of the photo keeps its full resolution, and nothing is uploaded.

How to remove an object from a photo
Step 1: Drop a photo on the box above.
Step 2: Paint over everything you want gone, a little beyond its edges, including its shadow. The eraser and undo fix slips.
Step 3: Press Remove and confirm the one-time model download. Only the painted area is filled.
Step 4: Download the cleaned photo. For leftovers, send it back with Open in… → Remove Objects and paint again.

How it runs
- Vision model
- A compact computer-vision model runs locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to an AI service.
- GPU canvas
- Pixels are drawn and composited with the GPU-accelerated canvas.
What the AI eraser removes well
Inpainting works best when the background around the object is something the model can continue: grass, sky, sand, a wall, a road. It struggles where it would have to invent structure, such as a face, readable text or a detailed pattern hidden behind the object.
| What you remove | Typical result | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Small objects: litter, cables, spots, stains | Clean, hard to spot | One pass is usually enough |
| Date stamps and text on a plain area | Clean | Paint the whole text block, not letter by letter |
| People in the background | Good on grass, sky and walls | Include the shadow and feet |
| Large objects covering much of the frame | Visible smudging | Remove in several smaller passes |
| Objects in front of patterns, faces or text | The pattern may not line up | Crop it out instead where you can |
What is inpainting?
Inpainting is filling a missing or masked part of an image with new pixels that fit the surroundings. Classic tools copy nearby texture; AI inpainting models learn from millions of images what usually lies behind an object and generate a plausible fill.
ProMedia uses MI-GAN, a compact open model (28 MB) that runs on the CPU in your browser. Every separate painted area is filled on its own crop with at least 96 pixels of surroundings for context, so far-apart objects each keep full detail, and only the painted pixels are replaced, blended in with a 3-pixel feather.
How to remove a person from a photo
- Paint over the whole person, including hair, hands, feet and the shadow on the ground. Unpainted edges are what give a removal away.
- Leave Grow selection at 4 px or raise it to catch outlines; on photos over 2,000 px wide it is scaled up automatically.
- Press Remove. If a faint outline remains, open the result in the tool again and paint over it.
- For a crowd, remove one or two people at a time; each pass fills from fresh surroundings.
How to remove text from an image
Paint one block over the whole line of text, including the space between the letters, and press Remove. Text on a plain or soft background, such as a timestamp in a corner or a caption on sky, disappears cleanly. Text across a detailed scene is harder; crop it out if the composition allows.
Only remove watermarks, logos or credits from images you own or have permission to edit. Removing someone else’s watermark can infringe their copyright.
Remove objects from photos on iPhone, Android or a computer
Recent phones and computers have their own erasers. They work well for one photo; this page adds full-resolution output in your photo’s own format, no account, and the same result in any browser.
iPhone
Photos has Clean Up on devices with Apple Intelligence. On other iPhones, open this page in Safari and paint with your finger.
Android
Google Photos’ Magic Eraser and Samsung’s Object Eraser are built into some phones. Otherwise, use this page in Chrome.
Windows 11
The Photos app has Generative erase. This page also accepts HEIC and AVIF and keeps JPG and PNG in their format.
Mac
Photos has Clean Up on Macs with Apple Intelligence. In any browser, a trackpad or mouse makes precise painting easy.
Why use this object remover
- Private. Family photos and documents never leave your device.
- Full resolution. Only the painted area changes; every other pixel is your original.
- Same format back. JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG, WebP stays WebP; HEIC, AVIF and TIFF are saved as JPG.
- Free and unwatermarked, with no daily limit.
Tips & troubleshooting
Want to hide something rather than erase it, such as a number plate or a face? Blur image or blur face are safer than a fill.
Removing everything except the subject is a different job: remove background does it in one click.
Need to remove a logo from a video instead of a photo? Use remove logo from video.
Zoom in on the photo while you paint; a precise mask matters more than any setting.
Remove Objects from Photo FAQ
How do I remove objects from photos?
Drop the photo here, paint over the object and a little around it, and press Remove. The AI fills the painted area with matching background on your device. Repeat on any leftovers, then download the photo at its original resolution.
How do I remove a person from a photo?
Paint over the whole person, including their shadow, and press Remove. Results are best when the person stands against grass, sky, sand or a wall. In a busy scene, remove people one or two at a time and check each pass.
Can I remove objects from photos on iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari, pick the photo from your library and paint over the object with your finger. The model downloads once and the photo is processed on the phone, so nothing is uploaded.
How do I remove objects from photos on Android?
Open this page in Chrome, tap the drop zone, choose the photo from your gallery and paint over the object. It works on any Android phone, including those without Magic Eraser or Object Eraser.
Can I remove a watermark with this?
Technically it can fill any painted area, but only remove watermarks from images you own or are allowed to edit. Removing someone else’s watermark or credit can infringe their copyright.
Why does the filled area look smudged?
The painted area was large or covered a detailed pattern. Press Adjust settings to go back to the original, then remove the object in two or three passes: paint part of it, remove, and send the result back with Open in… for the next part.
