Bleep Censor: Auto Bleep Swear Words
AIThis bleep censor finds swear words in a video or recording with word-level speech recognition and drops a beep, or silence, exactly over each one. Add your own words, protect words you want to keep, and export. The picture is copied untouched, only the sound is rebuilt, and nothing is uploaded.

How it runs
- Whisper speech model
- Speech recognition uses an open Whisper model. It downloads once after you confirm its size, then runs on your device — on the GPU via WebGPU when available.
- Web Audio
- Audio is processed with the browser’s built-in Web Audio engine, sample-accurate and fast.
- Hardware video engine
- Video is decoded and encoded by your device’s media hardware through WebCodecs — usually several times faster than real time.
How each bleep is placed
Every word is transcribed with its own start and end time, so the bleep covers that word and nothing else. A small margin on each side catches the start and end of the sound, and a very short fade stops the cut from clicking.
| Step | Detail |
|---|---|
| Find the word | Speech recognition with word timestamps (Whisper, on your device) |
| Margin | 0.04 seconds before and after each word |
| Fade in and out | 6 milliseconds, so there is no click |
| Beep | A sine tone, 1,000 Hz by default (400–2,000 Hz), about 10 dB below full scale |
| Silence instead | The sound drops to nothing for the same span |
| Picture | Copied as it is for MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV: no re-encoding, no quality loss |
Which words get bleeped?
The built-in list covers common English swear words and slurs, plus frequent ones in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Short words only match on their own, so “class” and “assess” are never bleeped, and stems that begin real words are spelled out in full, so place names such as Fukushima are safe.
Your Extra words list takes single words and short phrases, which is how you bleep a name, a brand or an address. Never bleep removes a built-in word you want to keep, such as “damn” or “bloody” in a casual video.
What frequency is the censor bleep?
The classic broadcast bleep is a 1,000 Hz sine tone, and that is the default here. Use the Beep pitch slider under Advanced settings for anything from a low 400 Hz hum to a sharp 2,000 Hz. A lower tone is less tiring in a video with many bleeps; Silence suits interviews where a beep would distract.
Does YouTube bleep out words for you?
No. YouTube does not censor the audio of uploads. Strong profanity, especially early in a video, can limit ads under YouTube’s advertiser-friendly content guidelines, so creators bleep it themselves before uploading. The same goes for school, workplace and family videos.
Why censor audio here
- Automatic. No scrubbing through a timeline to find every word.
- No quality loss on the picture. The video stream is copied; only the soundtrack changes.
- Video or audio. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos keep their format, as do MP3, WAV and M4A recordings.
- Private and free. The recording stays on your device, with no watermark.
Tips & troubleshooting
Need to hide a face as well as a word? Run the bleeped video through blur face.
Want the whole soundtrack gone instead? Remove audio from video strips it in seconds.
Captions will still show the word. Generate captions after bleeping with the subtitle generator and edit the word in Review.
Mumbled or fast swearing can be missed. Play the result before you post, and add any word it missed to Extra words.
Bleep Censor (Auto Bleep Swear Words) FAQ
How do I bleep out words in a video?
Drop the video here, keep the built-in list on or type the words to bleep under Extra words, and press Bleep. Each match is found with its own timestamps and covered with a beep or silence. The picture is copied unchanged, and the result card lists every bleep.
How do I bleep out swear words in a video for free?
Use this page: there is no fee, account or watermark, and the video is never uploaded. The speech model downloads once after you confirm, then every bleep is placed on your own device. Export as many videos as you like.
How do I censor audio without video?
Drop an MP3, WAV or M4A recording instead of a video. The same word list applies, and the censored file keeps the format of the original, so a podcast episode comes back as the same kind of file with each word bleeped or silenced.
Can I un-bleep a word it got wrong?
Yes. Check the times in the result card, add that word to Never bleep under Advanced settings and run it again. To bleep a word that was missed, add it to Extra words.
