MP3 to MP4: Turn Audio Into a Video

Convert MP3 to MP4 so you can post a song, podcast or voice recording where only videos are allowed. Add a picture (or let the song’s own cover art fill in), or switch to an animated waveform or spectrum bars, then choose 16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for feeds or 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. The video is rendered in your browser, with no upload and no watermark.

How to convert MP3 to MP4 with an image

  1. Step 1: Drop your MP3 (or WAV, M4A, FLAC) on the box above.

  2. Step 2: Keep Visual on Still image and add a Cover image, or skip it to use the artwork embedded in the MP3. Waveform and Spectrum bars animate with the sound.

Batch-friendly: add many files and they are processed one after another — if one fails, the rest still finish.

How it runs

Hardware video engine
Video is decoded and encoded by your device’s media hardware through WebCodecs — usually several times faster than real time.
GPU canvas
Pixels are drawn and composited with the GPU-accelerated canvas.
Web Audio
Audio is processed with the browser’s built-in Web Audio engine, sample-accurate and fast.

MP3 vs MP4: what is the difference?

An MP3 is audio only. An MP4 is a container that can hold video, audio and more, which is why YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and most social apps accept MP4 uploads and refuse a bare MP3. Converting wraps your sound in a video track: the picture can be a still image or an animation, and the audio stays the star.

What you get: sizes, frame rates and visuals

Every video carries the track title and artist (from the file’s tags, or its name) and a progress bar with elapsed and total time, so viewers know what they are hearing. The still image is shown sharp in the centre over a blurred, dimmed copy of itself; without any image you get a clean title card in your background colour.

Still image, waveform or spectrum bars?

Still image

Best for full songs, albums and long podcasts. The picture barely changes, so the video track stays small and the file renders fastest. Use your artwork, a photo or a podcast logo.

Waveform

A scrolling bar waveform that follows the loudness of the audio. It makes speech visibly “move” and suits podcast clips and voice notes shared as video.

Spectrum bars

Bars that jump with the bass, mids and treble in real time, the classic music-visualizer look. For more control over this style, the audio visualizer page starts with it.

How do I upload an MP3 to YouTube?

YouTube does not accept audio files, so turn the MP3 into an MP4 first. Choose 16:9 and Still image with your artwork, press Create, then upload the MP4 in YouTube Studio like any video. The audio is AAC, which YouTube accepts directly. For a podcast episode, a still image with the show logo keeps the file small and quick to upload.

Instagram works the same way: it will not post an MP3, but it takes the 1:1 or 9:16 MP4. Keep Reels within the platform’s length limit, or cut the audio first with the MP3 cutter.

Is the audio re-encoded?

Only when it has to be. If your file already contains AAC audio (an M4A, for example), it is copied into the MP4 untouched. MP3 and other formats are encoded once to AAC, the audio format video platforms expect inside an MP4, at 192 kbps for stereo or 128 kbps for mono. That is transparent for normal listening. Narrow-band recordings such as phone audio use a lower rate that matches their content.

Why make the video here

  • No upload, no waiting. The video is drawn frame by frame on your device; there is no server queue and the MP3 is never sent anywhere.
  • No watermark or intro. The MP4 is just your image and your audio.
  • Cover art for free. Skip the image and the artwork embedded in the MP3 is used automatically.
  • Long files welcome. The audio is streamed while frames are rendered, so hour-long podcasts do not need to fit in memory.

Tips & troubleshooting

  • Use a square or near-square image for the still style; it sits in the centre and the rest of the frame is filled with a blurred copy.

  • Posting a clip rather than the whole song? Trim it first with the MP3 cutter so the video is short and uploads quickly.

  • Want captions on a talking clip? Make the MP4 here, then add subtitles with auto captions.

  • Already have a video and want to add music to it? That is the opposite job: use add audio to video.

  • Need the MP3 back from an MP4 later? MP4 to MP3 extracts the soundtrack in seconds.

MP3 to MP4 (Audio to Video) FAQ

How do I convert MP3 to MP4 with an image?

Drop the MP3 on this page, keep Visual on Still image, choose your picture under Cover image and press Create. If you skip the picture, the cover art embedded in the MP3 is used, or a simple title card if there is none.

How do I upload an MP3 to YouTube?

Convert it to an MP4 here (16:9, Still image), then upload the MP4 in YouTube Studio. YouTube only accepts video files, and this gives it H.264 video with AAC audio, which it processes without trouble.

Can I upload an MP3 to Instagram?

Not directly; Instagram posts and Reels must be videos or images. Make a 1:1 MP4 for a feed post or a 9:16 MP4 for a Reel or Story here, then upload it from your phone.

How do I make an audio waveform video?

Choose Waveform under Visual, pick a wave colour and background, and press Create. The waveform scrolls with the audio and a progress bar shows the time. Spectrum bars are the other animated option.

Is the audio re-encoded?

AAC audio is copied unchanged. MP3, WAV, FLAC and other formats are encoded once to AAC, at 192 kbps for stereo and 128 kbps for mono, because AAC is what video platforms expect inside an MP4.

Can I turn WAV, M4A or FLAC into a video too?

Yes. Despite the name, this audio to video converter accepts any common audio format, including WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and Opus. M4A files with AAC audio are the fastest, because their sound is copied into the MP4 without re-encoding.

Is there a watermark or a length limit?

No watermark and no length limit. Long podcasts take longer to render because every frame is drawn on your device, but the audio is streamed, so memory is not the bottleneck.
