What speed is standard for nightcore?
Most nightcore edits sit between 1.2× and 1.35×. Because tempo and pitch rise together, each step faster also lifts the key and shortens the song, as the table shows for a 3:30 track.
| Speed | Pitch | New length |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1× | +1.7 semitones | 3:11 |
| 1.2× | +3.2 semitones | 2:55 |
| 1.25× (default) | +3.9 semitones | 2:48 |
| 1.3× | +4.5 semitones | 2:42 |
| 1.35× | +5.2 semitones | 2:36 |
| 1.5× (fastest) | +7.0 semitones | 2:20 |
What is nightcore?
Nightcore is a remix style in which a song is played faster with its pitch raised, usually by about a quarter, giving it a higher, more energetic sound. The name comes from a Norwegian DJ duo who released sped-up trance tracks under it in the early 2000s; the style later spread on YouTube, typically paired with anime artwork, and lives on today as the sped-up versions popular on TikTok.
Nightcore vs sped up vs daycore
Nightcore
Faster and higher, often with a little extra bass and brightness. What this page makes.
Sped up
The TikTok name for the same idea, sometimes a little slower (1.1–1.2×). For a faster song in the original key, use the audio speed changer with Keep original pitch on.
Daycore
The opposite: slowed down and pitched lower. The slowed and reverb generator does that, with reverb you can turn down to zero.
How do I make a sped-up song for TikTok?
Cut the part you want with the MP3 cutter, drop it here at 1.15–1.3×, and download the MP3. TikTok and Reels need a video, so turn the result into a 9:16 clip with the audio visualizer or use it as the sound in your editing app. Remember that edits of copyrighted songs may be muted by the platform.
Tips & troubleshooting
Vocals sounding thin at 1.35× or more? Add 3–4 dB of Bass boost to restore some body.
Choose WAV under Advanced settings if you will keep editing the track.
Using it as a nightcore generator for a whole playlist? Drop all the songs at once; each gets the same speed and bass.
Nightcore Maker FAQ
Does speeding up a song change the pitch?
Here, yes: tempo and pitch rise together, which is the nightcore sound. At 1.25× the song is almost four semitones higher. To keep the pitch, use the audio speed changer instead.
What is the difference between nightcore and sped up?
Mostly the name and the era, which is why one nightcore editor online can make both. Nightcore is the older YouTube style, usually around 1.25× with higher pitch; sped-up edits on TikTok use the same effect, often a little gentler.
Can I make nightcore from a video?
Yes. Drop the video and its soundtrack is sped up and saved as audio. The picture is not included.
Is my song uploaded?
No. The nightcore effect is rendered by your browser on your own device, so the song never reaches a server. That also means no queue and no file-size limit, and the page keeps working offline once loaded.
