Slowed and Reverb Generator

Make a slowed and reverb version of any song in your browser: drop the track, lower the speed, add a wash of reverb and a touch of bass, and download an MP3 or WAV. Slowing works like a turntable, so the pitch drops with the tempo, which is exactly the dreamy, late-night sound of the style. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no watermark or sign-up.

What the speed setting does to a 3-minute song

Because the song is slowed like a record, every step down in speed lowers the pitch and stretches the length. That pitch drop is part of the sound; it is why the vocals turn deeper and moodier. Use the table to pick a speed.

Speed, pitch and length for a 3:00 song
SpeedPitch changeNew lengthFeel
0.95×−0.9 semitones3:09Barely slowed, a light touch
0.90×−1.8 semitones3:20Subtle, vocals still natural
0.85× (default)−2.8 semitones3:32The classic sound of the style
0.80×−3.9 semitones3:45Dreamy and heavy
0.75×−5.0 semitones4:00Very deep, close to daycore
0.70× (slowest)−6.2 semitones4:17Dark and syrupy
Pitch change = 12 × log2(speed). The reverb adds a short tail at the end so the last chord fades out naturally.

What does “slowed and reverb” mean?

Slowed and reverb is an edit style in which a song is played back slower, usually at 80–90% of its speed, so both the tempo and the pitch drop, and then drenched in reverb so it sounds as if it is playing in a large, empty room. The result feels nostalgic and dreamy, and the style spread through YouTube and TikTok edits from the late 2010s onward.

The edit is simple to make: one speed change, one reverb and, optionally, a little extra bass. This slowed reverb maker does all three in one pass.

What are the best slowed and reverb settings?

There is no single correct recipe, but these starting points cover most edits. Adjust by ear from there.

Slowed and reverb recipes
RecipeSpeedReverbBass boost
Subtle0.92×25%2 dB
Classic (defaults)0.85×45%3 dB
Dreamy0.80×65%4 dB
Underwater, lo-fi0.78×75%6 dB
Bass boost is a low shelf around 110 Hz. Above about 6 dB it can make small speakers rattle.

Slowed and reverb vs chopped and screwed vs daycore

Chopped and screwed

A Houston hip-hop technique from DJ Screw in the 1990s: the song is slowed a lot, then “chopped” by repeating and skipping beats live on two turntables. It usually has no reverb.

Daycore

The opposite of nightcore: a song slowed down and pitched down, typically without the heavy reverb. Set Reverb to 0% here for a daycore-style edit.

Nightcore

Sped up with the pitch raised, for a bright, energetic sound. The nightcore maker does that in the other direction.

Are slowed and reverb songs copyrighted?

Yes, the original song’s copyright still applies to your edit. Slowing it down and adding reverb does not make it a new work you own. Platforms such as YouTube and TikTok may mute, demonetise or remove edits of copyrighted songs. For edits you post, use music you own, have licensed or that is clearly licensed for remixing. This is general information, not legal advice.

Tips & troubleshooting

  • Want slower without the pitch drop? The audio speed changer keeps the pitch when you slow down.

  • Need the edit as a video for TikTok or Reels? Turn it into a 9:16 MP4 with the audio visualizer.

  • Only want the chorus? Cut it first with the MP3 cutter, then slow it down.

  • Choose WAV under Advanced settings if you will edit the result further.

  • Want the song to circle around your head instead? The 8D audio converter uses the same engine with auto-panning; listen on headphones.

Slowed + Reverb Maker FAQ

How do I make a slowed and reverb song?

Drop the song here, set Speed to about 0.85×, Reverb to about 45% and a little Bass boost, then press Apply. Listen on the result card and download the MP3, or pick WAV under Advanced settings for a lossless file.

Why does slowing also lower the pitch?

The audio is resampled the way a turntable slows down, so tempo and pitch drop together. That is the signature of the style. At 0.85× the song is about 2.8 semitones lower.

Can I use it as a lofi converter?

Partly. Lo-fi is a genre with a deliberately rough, warm sound, while a slowed edit is a version of an existing song. They share a mood, and a slow speed with plenty of reverb and some bass gets close to the lo-fi feel; it does not add vinyl crackle or tape hiss.

Can I slow down a song without changing the pitch?

Not on this page, because the pitch drop is part of the effect. Use the audio speed changer with Keep original pitch on for a slower song in the same key.

Is my song uploaded?

No. The speed change and reverb are rendered by your browser on your device, so the song is never sent to a server.
