Signature Resize for Online Forms
Signature resize for online forms in one step: drop a photo or scan of your signature and get a JPG at the exact pixel size the notice asks for, between 10 and 20 KB. Both limits can be changed. The signature is processed in your browser and never uploaded, which matters for a document that identifies you.

Settings explained
- Maximum size
- The upper limit from the form. The result always stays under it.
- Minimum size
- Some forms also reject files that are too small. A file below this is saved at higher quality, then padded with an empty comment block; the picture does not change. 0 = no minimum.
- Width × height
- Use the pixels from your notice. The signature is cropped from the centre to this shape, so crop it close first.
Formats
Batch-friendly: add many files and they are processed one after another — if one fails, the rest still finish.
How it runs
- WebAssembly codecs
- Images are encoded with Squoosh-grade codecs (MozJPEG, WebP, AVIF, OxiPNG, JPEG XL). Each codec loads only when you use it.
- GPU canvas
- Pixels are drawn and composited with the GPU-accelerated canvas.
How each form rule is met
Forms check a signature in three ways: file size in KB, pixel dimensions and format. This signature resizer handles all three. The defaults are 10–20 KB and 140×60 pixels; change them to whatever your notice says.
| Rule in the notice | Setting | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum file size (e.g. 20 KB) | Maximum size | The highest JPG quality that stays about 2% under the limit is chosen |
| Minimum file size (e.g. 10 KB) | Minimum size | A file that comes out too small is saved at top quality, then topped up with an empty comment block; the picture does not change |
| Pixel size (e.g. 140×60) | Width × height | The scan is cut to that shape from the centre and scaled to the exact pixels |
| JPG / JPEG only | Fixed | Always saved as .jpg; transparent areas become white |
What size should a signature be for online forms?
It depends on the form, so the official notice always wins. A common pattern on exam and recruitment portals is 10 to 20 KB for the signature; bank exams run by IBPS, for example, list 140×60 pixels as the preferred size with a 10–20 KB file, signed in black ink on white paper and not in capital letters.
Other forms give a size in cm instead; in that case keep the shape (width divided by height) the same and use the pixel size the portal’s own preview accepts.
How to resize a signature to 20 KB
Set Maximum size to 20 and the pixel size to the one in your notice, then press Resize. A small signature at 140×60 usually fits easily, often below the minimum, which is why the Minimum size setting exists: it raises the file to just above 10 KB without altering the image. If your notice has no minimum, set it to 0. For a photo rather than a signature, use compress image to KB or compress image to 20KB.
How to scan a signature with a phone
Sign on plain white paper with a black pen, and photograph it in daylight from directly above, so the page is not at an angle and your hand casts no shadow. Crop tightly around the signature with the image cropper, keeping a thin white margin, because the resize cuts from the centre to the form’s shape. If the paper looks grey, make it whiter with more contrast in the black and white photo converter before resizing.
Tips & troubleshooting
Check the result on screen at 100%: the signature should be clearly readable, with no grey paper texture around it.
Wrong shape? A wide signature in a tall frame gets cut off at the sides, so crop it to roughly the target shape first.
Keep the original photo; you can make a new file for each form’s rules in seconds.
Signature Resizer FAQ
What size should a signature be for online forms?
Whatever the notice says. Many exam and job portals ask for 10 to 20 KB, and IBPS bank exams prefer 140×60 pixels. This tool uses those values by default, and you can change both.
How do I resize a signature to 20 KB?
Drop the signature here, keep Maximum size at 20 KB, set the pixel size from your notice and press Resize. The JPG always stays under the limit.
What if my signature file is smaller than 10 KB?
Keep Minimum size at 10 KB. A file that comes out smaller is saved at top quality and, if still needed, padded with an empty comment block so it lands just above the minimum. The signature itself does not change.
How do I scan a signature with my phone?
Sign in black ink on white paper, photograph it from straight above in daylight, crop it close, and drop it here. No scanner is needed.
Is your signature uploaded anywhere?
No. Your signature is processed by your own browser on your own device. There is no server that receives files, so nothing is uploaded, stored or shared. You can even switch to airplane mode once the page has loaded.
